Welcome to Love and Greens

by eileen on January 9, 2012

Hi there. You’re heeeere! Whoa. I’ve been (very quietly) remodeling this site since the fall, when I originally (very quietly) launched it. Are you sensing a theme here? I’ve been quiet. But I plan to spend more time here in 2012.

So, welcome! Come on in…

What the heck is this?

The name says it all: I’m obsessed with everything easy, loving, kind, green and sustainable. That means taking care of myself and my family, eating a whole foods plant-based diet, and reducing toxins in our daily life.

It’s not about: beating up on myself, pretending to be perfect, or expecting perfection from anyone else. It’s definitely not about guilt-ifying or should-ifying.

I have a story to tell. My journey is wrapped up closely with the way I feed myself and my family.

That sounds great, but what are you going to write about?

I’m going to write my story as it unfolds, so I don’t know for sure yet. But it will definitely include…

Vegan recipes

I’m not a chef (ahahaha, so not a chef!) but I love tinkering and tailoring recipes to fit our lifestyle. Actually, calling them “recipes” makes them sound waaay more complicated than they actually are. They’re more like “food tactics.” Food tactics that make whole, vegan foods easy for anyone.

Non-toxic product recommendations and resources

Did I mention I tend to research the crap out of everything? Whether it’s a book that inspired me, the perfect sippy cup, or a great source for raw almonds, I’ll share my hard-won middle-of-the-night-research here.

Nutrition information

I completed a certification in plant-based nutrition at the T.Colin Campbell foundation this past fall, and I’ll share some of that information too…

But I’m not interested in the arguing-about-diet thing.

This will be a vegan blog, since I’m vegan and that’s the way I’m (mostly) feeding my family. But even if you’re not vegan, I hope you can get something out of this site. You’re welcome here if you’re an omnivore, or vegan-curious, or whatever! (And if you’re gluten-free, I’m trying to reduce gluten as well, but I do still use it occasionally. I’ll have to learn from you.)

Not to mention…

If you know me at all, you’ll know you can also expect meandering thoughts about WHAT IT ALL MEANS, natural parenting, and cute baby photos.

I want this to be a resource for others who are struggling with how to feed themselves and their families, and how to live a natural, non-toxic lifestyle. But not an “eat this, don’t eat that” kind of thing. Or (heaven forfend) a weight loss site.

There will be recipes, product recommendations and nutrition information, yes. And I hope you find them helpful! But those things are not the point…

The point is, I’m working consciously on creating systems to feed myself and my family.

Sometimes that means I can just do research and make a decision with no drama, and I’ll share the information with you. Other times, that might mean I need to untangle a lot of my stuff around something (oh hi, sugar!), and I’ll share that too.

It’s a process, and I’m living it every day. It’s possible that watching my process might help you with your process. You never know.

Or you might just like cute baby photos. Either way, thanks for being here!

I’m so excited to hang out here Eileen! I think you have so much to share (way to go on the Dr. Campbell training!) and your personality and approach are totally refreshing. :)

Big big hugs!
Nathalie

Hooray for reinventions!

I went gluten-free last September, in a very round-about fashion. I was surprised to discover it made me feel better. It also made me re-examine the way I view food. I’m eager to hear more about your journey.
